UberChic Beauty Zombie Love-01 Review

Press  Sample

Hey there!  Is anyone else absolutely dying for the new season of The Walking Dead to start (while being disappointed in the spinoff, Fear The Walking Dead)?  Lucky for us Walking Dead fans, UberChic Beauty has a stamping plate just for us called Zombie Love.  I purchased this plate (but didn't pay for shipping so I'm still calling it a "press sample") and thought I'd post a couple of manis I did with it before the new season starts in case anyone else is in need of ideas.  The first one is a stamping re-do of one of my most viewed posts ever and the second one is slightly more general zombie (with the exception of the silhouette that I assume is everyone's favourite character).  Keep reading for all the details...

Construction Crane Nail Art

Hey there!  In case you're wondering why I have poorly painted cranes on my nails for this post, I promise it's not as random as it looks.  This past Saturday was my dad's birthday so, for the first time, I decided to do my nails for him.  Not only was it his birthday but he was "performing".  My dad is a crane operator and is currently working on a huge project in Edmonton known as The Ice District - part of which is a new hockey arena that has been years in the making (very exciting for our hockey-obsessed city).  This weekend there was an art event called Nuit Blanche here (originally started in Paris) and one of the exhibits was Dance of The Cranes where my dad and his coworkers had choreographed movements for the cranes set to music.  He thought it was silly but I could tell he was secretly proud of it.  And he even liked my nails enough that he asked me to text him a pic of them so he could show his crane buddies!

UberChic Beauty XL Stamper Review

Press  Sample

Hey there!  I'm on the neverending hunt for the perfect stamper so when I heard that UberChic Beauty was going to release some stampers and asked if I'd like to try them, I was over the moon!  I was sent two sets of stampers - one non-sticky with medium firmness and one soft and sticky stamper.  Mine each came in these handy little tins (more on that later) but it's just not a single stamper in that tin.  Keep reading to see what comes with these stampers.

Sunday Stamping - Lacy Lace

Hey there!  I know it's very late for a Sunday stamping post but it is still Sunday and I was busy babysitting today (and then gawking at the super moon eclipse) but I'm down on the couch now thinking about how much I miss you guys.

This week's Sunday Stamping theme was Lacy Lace.  Mine didn't stamp oh-so-great but the base polish almost makes up for it.  I used a new Girly Bits polish, Stardust, and double stamped some lacy patterns on to wear what you see here.

Dark and Grungy Chevron Nails

Hey there!  It's the final week of The Crumpet's Nail Tarts 52 Week Pick n Mix Challenge.  I'm sad to see it go but have to say I'm pretty proud of myself for managing to do all 52 prompts.  The final prompts were dark/grungy and zig zags.  I think chevrons are zig zag-y so I thought a saran wrap chevron mani would be cool....little did I know that I'd pretty much lose the entire chevron effect.  Trust me, the chevrons are way more visible here than they were in real life!

HPB Presents Fall Tree Nail Art

Hey there!  Even though Autumn doesn't officially start until Wednesday, my city has definitely been in full on fall mode for a couple weeks.  Even though Edmonton is pretty much just a sea of yellow, for this month's Hobby Polish Blogger's link up theme of Fall/Autumn, I tried to paint a little tree the way I would rather have our trees look (instead of just boring ol' yellow).

Sunday Stamping - Over A Gold Base

Hey there!  For this week's Sunday Stamping theme, we're doing gold base or gold stamping images in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness.  I recently did a cancer awareness mani so, instead of doing awareness ribbons again, I thought I'd do something that might appeal to the kids.  So this is me sending the children and their families some love.

Purple Waterfall Nails

Hey there!  It's the second last post of the Crumpet's Nail Tart's 52 Week Pick n Mix Challenge.  This week's prompts were Violet and Waterfall.  I believe waterfall manis were the creation of the always amazing Nailasaurus.  I've only tried the waterfall mani once before so I still don't have it down pat but I do think it's a great look.

The Digit-al Dozen does Re-Creations: Day 5 Concentric Dotticure

Hey there!  It's the final day of one of my favourite Digit-al Dozen weeks to date, Re-Creation week.  I'm so sad to see this week done.  The ladies of the group are such amazing nail artists that it's been really fun to see their takes on everyone's past manis.  For today I have a dotticure, originally done by Jacki of Adventures In Acetone.  After trying this for myself, I give her mad props for the number of dots she managed to get on her nails...I didn't even come close!

The Digit-al Dozen does Re-Creations: Day 4 Hawaiian Nails

Hey there!  Today I have my fourth re-creation of a previous Digit-al Dozen mani to celebrate the group's third birthday.  The original, by Sassy Shelly, is another one of my favourite DD designs that I had bookmarked long before joining the group and knew I wanted to try for this week.  I made a few mistakes but still had to include for Re-Creation week because I loved her version so darn much!

The Digit-al Dozen does Re-Creations: Day 3 Dry Marble Nails

Hey there!  For the third day of The Digit-al Dozen's Re-Creation week, I had to try this dry marble nail art from Dressed Up Digit's Childhood week.  The irony here is that Laurie is one of my nail stamping idols and the mani of hers that I picked to do doesn't even involve stamping!  Hers was inspired by a bowling ball so, even though I can't bowl to save my life, anytime I looked at these all I could see was bowling balls too!

The Digit-al Dozen does Re-creations: Day 2 Hammered Gold

Hey there!  For the second day of The Digit-al Dozen's Re-Creation week, I have my attempt at one of favourite DD mani's ever - Hammered Gold from The Dalai Lama's Nails.  Hannah's nail art is always amazing and I had a LONG list of manis of hers I wanted to try but I went with this one because I remembered how much it stood out to me when I first saw it last year.  Mine are nowhere near as good as hers but they were really fun to do!

The Digit-al Dozen does Re-Creations: Day 1 Lisa Frank Leopard Stamping

Hey there!  This week is going to be so much fun!  This week commemorates the third anniversary of The Digit-al Dozen and to celebrate we're doing re-creations of old DD manis.  I've been a Digit-al Dozen fan since I first started following nail blogs so it was SO hard to pick just 5 manis to recreate.  I narrowed it down by picking manis from the current members since they're the amazing ladies that have been so incredibly welcoming to me in the group.  Sadly, since there's only 5 days in the week, I can't do everyone so I'm can't copycat all of my talented friends.  I think we should do this theme every month, haha!

For my first re-creation I decided to recreate this Lisa Frank mani from Kirsten (aka Geeky Owl) during Childhood week.  It also ended up being a re-creation of Jacki's (from Adventures In Acetone) Decade's mani since I used the similar stamping images as both of them so today is a two-for-one!

Sunday Stamping - Fall Nails 2015

Hey there!  Wow, it feels like ages since I've done a Sunday Stamping post!  The Sunday themes went on hiatus for a bit of the summer and then I couldn't participate in last week's but I'm back doing as many Sunday stamping themes as I can.  This week "Fall Nails" was picked as the theme so, even though I just posted a fall leaf mani on Monday, it's always the changing colour of the leaves that I think of when I think of fall...

UberChic Beauty Collection 5 Stamping Plate and Folder Review

Press  Sample

Hey there!  I'm finishing the work week with a review of the latest UberChic Beauty stamping plate collection.  Collection 5 was released two weeks ago.  Luckily it's still in stock so I thought I should get this post up as soon as I could.  Usually I do a separate post for each UberChic stamping plate but, since next week is a Digit-al Dozen week, I wouldn't have had time and, quite simply, didn't want to wait another week!  At the end of today's post I also have a quick review of their plate holder which is a dream for all of us who want to keep their UberChic plates in pristine condition.

Stamping Over Watercolour Nails

Hey there!  This week's 52 Week Pick n Mix Challenge prompts are "watercolour" and "most precious polish".  I did a watercolor mani with my pipedream polish A Night In Vegas Cremes collection.  I know I use these polishes an absolute ton but I would say this collection is probably my most precious because they're pretty hard to get your hands on.  I was lucky and was able to grab them during a restock while they were still announcing them.  Of course then I covered most of it with stamping...because I love me some stamping!

Autumn Leaves Stamping Decals

Hey there!  Happy Labour Day to my fellow Canadians and my American friends.  I don't often complain about long weekends but Labour Day makes me sort of sad since it's sort of the last weekend of summer.  It is definitely feeling like fall here.  Our leaves started turning a couple of weeks ago already so these autumn leaves stamping decals that I wore were, sadly, very appropriate.  Luckily, even if I don't love the end of summer, I did love this mani!

Red, Purple and Aqua Negative Space Water Marble Nails

Hey there!  This week's Crumpet's Nail Tart's 52 Week Pick n Mix Challenge themes were water marble/water spotted and Red/Purple/Aqua.  Since getting the pipedream polish ANIVC's I have learned to love water marbling so that's the option I went with.  Since PDP doesn't have a red, I chose to use Clearwater to make a negative space marble over Lacquistry's Rediculous (because I like my red's sparkly).

Taylor Swift VMA Outfit Inspired Nail Art

Hey there!  My sister was watching the MTV Video Music Award's on Sunday and I couldn't resist peeking at it every once in awhile myself.  The biggest thing I took away from it was Taylor Swift's outfit....as soon as I saw it the first thing I thought was "that would make awesome nails".  So I gave it a try last night and have to say I love how they turned out!

LYZ Cosmetics Tea Tree Nail Care Kit Review

Press  Sample

Hey there!  Today I'm reviewing the Tea Tree nail care products from the indie brand, LYZ Cosmetics.  LYZ Cosmetics is based in Singapore but sources all their 3-free, cruelty-free and vegan ingredients from Australia.  I use quite a few of tea tree body/face care products and love the smell so when I was asked to review LYZ's tea tree line of nail care products, I couldn't resist giving them a try.  I was sent a base coat, top coat and cuticle oil to test out.  I've never reviewed products like these before so hopefully this review is comprehensive enough for you to understand how these products work.  Keep reading for all the details...
